ABOUT US

LIONSROCK is a Big Cat sanctuary, one of only a few true Animal Sanctuaries in South Africa was established by FOUR PAWS, the global animal welfare organisation for animals under direct human influence, which reveals suffering, rescues animals in need and protects them. Our vision is a world where humans treat animals with respect, empathy and understanding. 

LIONSROCK has already rescued over 100 Big Cats from around the world, including lion, leopard, tiger, and cheetah. Being a true sanctuary; breeding, trading, hunting and any direct contact are all strictly prohibited. In addition to our Big Cats, LIONSROCK is also home to may other typical South African wildlife species like wildebeest, springbuck, eland, zebras, ostriches, and a wide variety of bird species, all set against the backdrop of magnificent sandstone mountain formations.

LIONSROCK is open to the public, with no entry fee at the gate. We offer a unique combination of animal welfare and tourism, offering activities for guests including sanctuary tours and exclusive guided tours for visitors who are interested in gaining insight into the daily work of the animal caretaker team.
